Group Transport

Washington, DC car service and group transportation

Washington, DC car service, black cars, airport transfers and charter buses, booked with licensed partner operators. Three airports, a paperwork deadline at Dulles and a National Mall that coaches cannot wait on.

Washington, DC airport car service: Reagan National, Dulles or BWI

Reagan National is about 5 miles from the Capitol, Dulles about 26 and BWI about 32. The choice shapes the budget and the schedule; if flights are open, send all three options.

At Reagan National, limo and sedan pickups need a pre-arranged reservation. Terminal 1 uses Curbside 3; Terminal 2 the baggage claim level, Curbside 2, Zones 1-4. The Cell Phone Lot is closed for construction, and garages are free for up to 60 minutes.

Dulles charter buses: the 24-hour form

Charter operators at Dulles must submit the online Charter Bus Form 24 hours ahead. Late manifest, late form. Buses pick up at Arrivals level, Doors 4 and 5, stage at the Cell Phone Lot at Autopilot Drive and Rudder Road, and may not be left unattended at the curb. Send group arrival details at least two days out.

Touring the National Mall by motorcoach

Loading on the National Mall is allowed only in signed drop-off and pickup zones, and National Park Service bus parking is mainly on Ohio Drive SW in West Potomac Park. Plan the day as a sequence of drop-offs, each with a fixed meeting point and time.

Motorcoach idling is limited to three minutes, five at 32°F or below. At Union Station there is no charter pickup out front; the bus deck has 32 spaces and only reservations are guaranteed.

Convention shuttles: downtown or National Harbor

The Walter E. Washington Convention Center is at Mount Vernon Square; the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center is in National Harbor, Maryland. Attendees confuse them. Use the full venue name on the shuttle brief. For executives moving between Capitol Hill, downtown and the airports, an hourly black car usually beats separate transfers.

Questions

Can a car service pick up at Reagan National without a reservation?

No. Limo and sedan pickups there must be pre-arranged.

Is BWI practical for a Washington group?

It is about 32 miles from downtown. Worth it when the flights are clearly better, or when the program also covers the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Allow for the longer transfer in the schedule.

Can the coach wait by the Lincoln Memorial?

No. Loading happens only in signed zones; buses park mainly on Ohio Drive SW and return at a set time.

How long is the drive to Mount Vernon?

About 18 miles, 35-50 minutes off-peak. Arlington National Cemetery, across the Potomac, fits on the same day.
