AUS is eight miles out: airport car service basics

Austin-Bergstrom is about 8 miles from downtown. Short, but downtown streets fill during big weeks. Send flight numbers so the pickup follows the landing, and give the exact hotel: downtown, Rainey Street, South Congress, East Austin and The Domain are different drives.

For an executive arriving for back-to-back meetings, book a black car by the hour from the airport. For a team, an SUV takes up to six with bags.

The convention center is closed. Confirm where your event moved.

The Austin Convention Center has been closed for its rebuild since April 2025, with completion expected in 2028. Events that would have used it now run at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Rd, or at hotels and other venues. Its garages at 201 E 2nd St and 601 E 5th St still operate.

Specify the venue address for every day of the event. A corporate shuttle planned around the old building will drop people at a construction site.

Capitol, LBJ Library and bat-watching groups

The Texas State Capitol requires groups over 10 to reserve tours; call visitor services to arrange bus drop-off and parking. The LBJ Presidential Library takes reservations for groups of 15 or more. Book both before the vehicle.

The Congress Avenue Bridge bat flights happen at dusk, spring through early fall. Timing depends on sunset, so keep the pickup flexible.

Game days, race weekends and Hill Country trips

Q2 Stadium, the Moody Center and Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium all generate heavy event traffic. Circuit of The Americas hosts the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix. For these, fix the return pickup before the event. Hill Country day trips: Lockhart about 29 miles, Fredericksburg about 78, San Antonio about 80.
