Chicago car service at O'Hare: black car lane and charter lanes

Pre-arranged black cars at O'Hare pick up on the lower level, center lane (lane 2). Rideshare uses the upper level at Terminals 2 and 3, so passengers on app habit go to the wrong floor. Brief them first.

Charter buses use the lower-level commercial lanes; at Terminal 5 it is the outer lane at Door 5D. Charter buses may not use the Multi-Modal Facility. Midway is about 11 miles from downtown against O'Hare's 17; for a Loop or South Loop hotel, check both.

Corporate shuttles to McCormick Place

McCormick Place, on the lakefront south of the Loop, is the largest convention center in North America. For hotel loops from River North, the Loop or the Magnificent Mile, specify first run, last run and interval. The McCormick Place Marshalling Yard at 31st Street and Lake Shore Drive is reservable for coaches; include it so buses hold there between runs instead of circling.

Soldier Field and the Museum Campus

Bus drop-off and pickup for Soldier Field is on Columbus Drive, north of Balbo. Tell the group before kickoff, not after. For the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium or Adler Planetarium, reserved motorcoach day parking is at the Adler Lot.

Winter pickups and the three-minute idling rule

Diesel vehicles in Chicago may idle only three minutes per hour. In January that means a coach cannot sit warm at the hotel door waiting for stragglers. Set a lobby time ahead of departure, keep the group inside until the vehicle arrives, and load quickly.

For day trips, Milwaukee is about 90 miles and Starved Rock State Park about 94; both are two to two and a half hours off-peak. Pick a coach with a restroom for either.
