Sports team bus charter for away games

Teams move with more gear than people and finish later than planned. The sports team bus charter has to absorb both.

Gear first, then seats

A 45-ft coach carries about 440 to 460 cu ft of under-floor luggage space. For a football or hockey squad, bags and equipment may fill that before the seats fill. Send the gear list with the headcount, and say what rides inside; overhead parcel racks are for small bags. A 30-player roster with staff may fit one coach on seats and still need a second vehicle for gear.

What the rules require

  • FMCSA: never ask a driver to speed or make up lost time.

Overtime and the driver clock

A passenger driver may not drive after 15 hours on duty, and weekly limits cap on-duty time at 60 hours in 7 days or 70 in 8. A game that goes to overtime, followed by a long drive home, can hit the ceiling. FMCSA says longer trips may need more than one driver. Tell us the realistic worst case, not the scheduled finish.

FMCSA also says never ask a driver to speed or make up lost time. Build slack into the return.

Stadium bus rules

Venues treat buses differently. At AT&T Stadium in Arlington, buses park in a section of Lot 15 and need a bus pass. At Soldier Field, bus drop-off and pick-up is on Columbus Drive, north of Balbo. Red Rocks buses use Lower South Lot 2. Ask the host venue for its bus instructions and send them with the booking.

The driver has legal on-duty limits. Tell us the worst-case finish so the plan covers it.

Can we book a whole season?

Yes. Send the schedule; each trip is quoted separately.

Can the coach stay with the team for a tournament weekend?

Yes. Send the whole schedule: hotel, venues, meals. The quote covers each day and plans around the driver's rest.

Do fans travel on the same bus?

Separate booking. A fan coach runs on its own schedule.
