Limos and black cars load on the lower level, center lane, lane 2. At Terminals 2 and 3, rideshare goes upstairs. That split helps: an ORD car service passenger heads down to the lower level, away from the app crowd. Tell travelers "lower level, lane 2" in those words.

Charter buses: the commercial lanes and Door 5D

Charters load in the lower-level commercial lanes. At Terminal 5, it is the outer lane at Door 5D. Charter buses may not use the Multi-Modal Facility, so do not send a group there to meet a coach. Rideshare at Terminals 2 and 3 is upstairs; black cars and charters are both downstairs. Say "lower level" early and often.

With four terminals in use (1, 2, 3 and 5), a split group is common. Pick one terminal as the muster point, brief the lead, and let the others walk over before the coach is called.

17 miles to downtown, 30 to 60 minutes

The range is the expressway and the hour. For McCormick Place shows, the Marshalling Yard at 31st St and Lake Shore Dr is reservable; a show shuttle should be planned around it, not around the curb outside the hall.

Chicago limits diesel idling to three minutes per hour. A coach cannot sit running for heat outside a River North hotel in January. Keep the group in the lobby until it pulls up. Soldier Field groups drop and collect on Columbus Drive, north of Balbo.

A corporate shuttle between ORD and Rosemont

O'Hare and Rosemont hotels form their own zone. For a meeting there, a corporate shuttle on a fixed loop from the commercial lanes, timed against the arrivals list, beats sending one car per person.

Send hotel names with the arrivals list. A loop serving three Rosemont hotels runs differently from one serving a single conference hotel.
