JFK airport car service and group pickups

Five terminals, two pickup patterns and a Midtown run of 40 to 75 minutes. This is how a booked car or coach actually meets your arrivals at JFK.

How a JFK car service pickup works

At Terminals 1, 4 and 8, a pre-arranged JFK car service meets the passenger in that terminal's ground transportation area. The driver comes to them. Send the airline and flight number, not the scheduled time, so the pickup runs off the actual landing.

Terminals 5 and 7 are different. Ride apps and car services there load at the Howard Beach AirTrain lot, not outside the building. The AirTrain is free within the airport, Howard Beach included. A traveler who walks out to the T5 curb looking for a black car will not find one. Put this in the itinerary.

Where the driver holds while the flight is late

Drivers do not circle. The published waiting points are the Free Wait Lot near Lefferts Blvd and the East Cell Phone Lot. The driver moves to the pickup area once the passenger has cleared customs and has bags. For international arrivals, allow for the customs line; waiting time is one of the things that moves a quote.

A coach from JFK to a Midtown hotel

About 15 miles. For a coach the road matters as much as the clock: buses need a Highway Travel Permit for the parkways and FDR Drive, and otherwise keep to NYC truck routes. The operator plans that route. Your job is the address. No bus loads on Fifth Avenue between 32nd and 59th Streets, so name a side-street entrance.

Idling is capped at three minutes. A coach outside the hotel will not sit running while the group finishes breakfast. Lobby at the stated time.

Terminals are moving

JFK is mid-rebuild. The New Terminal One's first phase is expected in 2027 and a New Terminal 6 is under construction. Airlines relocate. Confirm the terminal from the airline itinerary in the week of travel and tell us if it changes; the pickup area changes with it.

Questions

Can one airport transfer collect people from two JFK terminals?

Yes, if the flights land close together. The AirTrain is free between terminals, so the simpler plan is one pickup point and a short ride for the others. Send all the flight numbers and we will suggest the terminal.

Six executives with checked bags: SUV or Sprinter?

Six with checked bags usually outgrows one SUV. Two black cars keep separate drop-offs flexible; one Sprinter keeps the group together. Ask and the quote will show both.

Do Terminal 5 arrivals go to the curb?

No. Car services for T5 and T7 load at the Howard Beach AirTrain lot. The AirTrain there is free.
